Buckingham Palace is reportedly concerned that Prince Harry may publish a second explosive memoir following his recent legal battle over UK security arrangements, royal sources have told the BBC.
The
Duke of Sussex, 39, made headlines this week after claiming during a two-day UK
visit that his taxpayer-funded security had been deliberately downgraded to
"trap" him into remaining a working royal. His remarks, made in his
first UK media interview since 2023, have intensified tensions with the Royal
Family.
"Veiled Threat"
Sparks Alarm
A
palace insider told The Sun: "There’s a lot of worry that Harry could tell
all in a book deal or even follow Meghan’s lead and make a podcast." The
source described Harry’s recent comment, "People would be shocked by
what’s being held back", as a "veiled threat" that he might
reveal further damaging revelations if his security appeal fails.
The
Duke is currently fighting a High Court case to reinstate his full UK police
protection after losing it when he stepped back from royal duties in 2020. A
ruling is expected later this year.
Timing Adds Pressure
The reported anxiety in royal circles comes at a sensitive time for the monarchy, with King Charles III undergoing cancer treatment and Princess Kate temporarily withdrawing from public duties after abdominal surgery.
"This
could not come at a worse time," a palace source said. "There are
fears about what he might do if the decision goes against him."
Previous Revelations
Harry’s
first memoir, Spare, released in January 2023, contained startling claims about
royal life, including a physical altercation with Prince William and criticism
of Queen Camilla. A second book or podcast could deepen the rift within the
family.
What Happens Next?
Legal
experts suggest Harry’s security case may take months to resolve. Meanwhile,
observers note that the Sussexes have proven willing to bypass traditional
royal channels, as seen with their Netflix docuseries and Meghan’s Archetypes
podcast.
