Following the expiration of the tenure of the executives of the Onyeahananwaneya Butchers Association in Umunya, the Anambra State Government, through the Office of the Special Adviser on Trade and Markets, earlier today announced the dissolution of the association's executive committee.
This action was taken in
accordance with the association's constitution. In place of the dissolved
executives, a new caretaker committee has been appointed to oversee the affairs
of the association.
Umunya Butchers Market is one
of the biggest meat markets in the state.
During the ceremony to
inaugurate the new committee, Mr. Francis Iloduba, the State Director for
Markets, presented the letter of appointment to the incoming officials. He
emphasized that the decision aligns with the objectives of the Anambra State
Government, which seeks to promote better cohesion and strengthen the
relationship between the Ministry and the association.
Mr. Iloduba urged the new
committee to foster peace and unity within the association and to ensure that
the market is regularly cleaned—further contributing to the improvement of the
market environment.
Mr. Chinedu Augustine Ubah, the
newly appointed and inaugurated chairman of the caretaker committee, expressed
his heartfelt appreciation to the state government for their swift
intervention. He also thanked the association for their continued support and
pledged to work harmoniously with all members for the collective welfare and
progress of the market.
The new caretaker committee
chairman also promised to work collaboratively with his team, the community,
and the government to give the market a much-needed facelift.
In his remarks, Mr. Danmart
Obiefuna, Commander of the Ocha Brigade, Anambra North Zone, expressed
satisfaction with the peaceful transition of leadership. He encouraged the new
leadership to align their actions with the vision of the Anambra State
Governor, particularly in building a clean, healthy, livable, and prosperous
homeland.
