The Anambra State Government has introduced a series of security measures to enhance safety at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka. The interventions, initiated under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, aim to address security concerns and create a safer working environment for employees.
According to Dr. Law Mefor,
Commissioner for Information, the government has installed 40 CCTV cameras to
provide live coverage of the complex, improving surveillance and security
response. Two hybrid solar-powered control rooms have been established to
receive live feeds from the cameras, ensuring uninterrupted monitoring and
effective incident management. Additionally, solar-powered lights have been
installed throughout the secretariat to illuminate the area at night, deterring
security threats and enhancing safety.
To reinforce perimeter
security, barbed wires have been placed around the fence to prevent
unauthorised entry, while iron protectors have been mounted on doors and
windows to strengthen security. Illegal access points, previously enabled by
uncovered drainages, have been sealed, and the security team management has
been restructured to improve oversight. The access road leading to the
secretariat has also been rehabilitated to improve accessibility and contribute
to overall security.
The state government has
reiterated its commitment to addressing security challenges at the Jerome Udoji
Secretariat Complex and ensuring a secure workplace for state employees.
