The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has bid farewell to Mr Mark Okoye II, former Managing Director of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), who now serves as the pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).

At its fourth meeting, held on 24 February 2025 in the Council Chamber, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo assured Mr Okoye of the government's support and urged the SEDC to prioritise key infrastructure projects, particularly a regional railway linking the five South East states.

The Council endorsed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control’s (NAFDAC) efforts to rid markets of counterfeit and expired drugs. It commended Governor Soludo’s visit to the closed drug market in Onitsha and urged NAFDAC to expedite inspections and verification processes, pledging the state's support. To tackle the issue of fake drugs, the Council committed to completing the Anambra State Pharmaceutical Hub, also known as the Coordinated Wholesale Drug Centre (CWC), in Oba.

On security, ANSEC called on communities to support government efforts to curb criminal activities. It reaffirmed its commitment to fighting practices it described as "fetishism and sorcery" while reassuring traditional worshippers that indigenous religious traditions would not be undermined. The Council also warned against native doctors who promote fraudulent wealth schemes and the sale of fetish products such as Oke-Ite.

The Council approved several key projects, including the reconstruction and fortification of the perimeter fence at the Commissioners' Quarters in Awka, awarded to Aristan Developers Ltd at a cost of ₦57.5 million. It also approved the construction of two model gates at general hospitals, along with landscaping, interlocking, and fencing of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Hospital Compound, awarded to Daluchukwu & Bros Impex Ltd at a cost of ₦310.7 million.

The repainting and renovation of the VIP stand were awarded to KUV Homes & Properties for ₦107.1 million, while flood and gully erosion control at the Cosmetics Market was awarded to Acode Energy Services Ltd at a cost of ₦188.2 million.
