Tech enthusiasts dedicated to
the forefront of the global Artificial Intelligence (AI), resolution, converged
on Lagos for the second edition of the annual AI conference tagged Innovate AI
Lagos 2025 with a call on the need to adopt AI for enhanced efficiency and
service delivery in Nigeria.
The conference with the theme:
"Scaling AI Adoption in Nigeria: Catalysing Cross-Sectoral Innovation and
Fostering Inclusive Growth", attracted AI enthusiasts, tech industry
leaders, scholars, tech companies and innovators from Nigeria and the world.
The event which was organised
by AI-in- Nigeria drew speakers and panelists from different spheres of the
economy to give an insight on how AI is reshaping their sector towards enhanced
service delivery.
Presenting his keynote address
the Chief Executive Officer of Standbic IBTC Bank, Mr. Wole Adeniyi,
underscored the importance of AI for cross-sectoral innovation that fosters
inclusive growth.
Adeniyi opined that AI is
needed in all sectors of the economy, noting that scaling AI adoption in
Nigeria, requires a multifaceted approach.
The CEO of Standbic IBTC noted
that AI can optimize financial services, drive efficiency and create new
opportunities for businesses and communities alike.
Speaking during the panel
discussion session, the Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor on Innovation
and Business Incubation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, maintained that AI was actively
reshaping governance, economic development and public services worldwide.
Okoli informed that Anambra
State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo was committed to building the
ecosystem and community for AI to thrive.
She informed that as part of
efforts to drive AI adoption and technological growth in the State, teachers
and civil servants were given laptops and over twenty thousand youths were
empowered on different tech skills through the Solution Innovation District.
While saying that Anambra State
was open for companies for innovation businesses, Okoli disclosed that the
State was partnering with JAMB CBT centers strategically located in the State
so that youths can have access to computer services.
In her remarks the Chinese
Consul General in Nigeria, Yan Yuging, while calling for international
cooperation in the field of AI, observed that AI is filled with infinite
possibilities and challenges.
Yuging stated that AI is a
global technological revolution, and no single country or region can fully
address the complex issues associated with it.
Also speaking Stephanie
Egharevba called for inclusion of the physically challenged persons in the
scheme of things.
In their remarks the conveners
of the conference, Messers Dotun Adeoye and Ehia Erhaboh noted that the
conference aims to examine how AI can drive inclusive growth, solve economic
challenges and catalyse innovation across Nigeria.
