The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) today celebrated the two-year anniversary of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ossy Onuko in office, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to the sustainable development of Awka capital city.
The event, held at ACTDA
headquarters Awka, Anambra State kicked off with a solemn prayer session led by
Rev. Fr. Maximus Muojeke of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Chaplaincy, Ukwulu,
setting a grateful tone for the event attended by staff and colleagues.
In his remarks Rev. Fr. Muojeke
commended Mr. Onuko’s efforts in addressing urban challenges including the
relocation of street traders to Solution
Arena where they now trade free. He further praised the MD for his projects in
road rehabilitation and environmental protection, noting that Mr. Onuko’s
leadership was driven by courage and compassion. "He is not just a leader
for himself but for the people," Rev. Muojeke said, offering prayers for
continued strength and divine grace.
In his brief remarks, the
Personal Assistant to the ACTDA Managing Director, Mr. Emmanuel Atuanya,
acknowledged the achievements of Mr. Onuko, stating, "Today, we celebrate
two impactful years of leadership by Mr. Onuko. His unwavering commitment to
driving developmental processes within Awka has transformed the city in ways we
could not have imagined", Atuanya also emphasized the need for collective
prayers to guide the agency towards achieving further progress.
During the celebration, the
Head of Department of Administration ACTDA, Mr. Azubike Ogugua, applauded Mr.
Onuko’s visionary leadership, noting that he has been instrumental in enhancing
the welfare of the staff and improving the overall development of Awka.
"Having worked with two other Managing Directors before Mr. Onuko, I can
confidently say that he stands out. He is full of ideas, hard-working, and
genuinely cares about the staff's wellbeing," he said.
In his response, The ACTDA Boss
Mr. Ossy Onuko expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his
transformational leadership in the state. He thanked his team for their
efforts, acknowledging that the successes of the agency were the result of
their collective work. "For me, it is all about the impact we make. The
most important thing is what we will be remembered for," Onuko stated. He
encouraged his staff to continue striving for excellence, emphasizing that the
long-term growth of Awka depends on their continued dedication.
Mr. Onuko also noted that he
had not planned for a celebration, as his focus was initially on inspecting
ongoing projects across various sites. However, he was humbled by the
recognition and reiterated his commitment to making a lasting impact during his
tenure.
