Hezbollah, the Islamist terrorist group in Lebanon, confirmed on Saturday that its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in a massive airstrike by Israel on the group's headquarters in Beirut on Friday. The Israeli Army earlier claimed responsibility for the attack, referring to it as 'Operation New Order.'
In their statement, Hezbollah
announced that Nasrallah “has joined his fellow martyrs.” Following this, the
group's Al-Manar TV began broadcasting Quran verses in mourning. The
Iran-backed organization pledged to continue its fight against Israel "in
support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast
people."
Nasrallah led Hezbollah for
over three decades, playing a crucial role in establishing the group as a
prominent political-militant force in the region. His death raises hopes in
Israel of dismantling Hezbollah's power structure and reducing its influence
along its borders.
