The mysterious disappearance of Mr. Ejekwu Joseph Odira has gripped the community of Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State. Known to many as "World Best," the 36-year-old land agent and drinks dealer vanished after receiving a phone call and leaving his home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
His elder brother, Mr. Chijioke
Ejekwu, recounted the events leading up to his disappearance. According to
Chijioke, Odira received a call around 1 PM and informed his family that he was
heading to Nnewi. Witnesses later confirmed seeing him in Nnewi shortly after
he left home, but he has not been seen since.
The family's concern grew when
attempts to reach Odira on his two phone numbers, 08161131513 and 07066799871,
were unsuccessful. Both numbers were switched off around 2:30 PM, leaving his
family in distress and without any means to contact him.
Odira, a native of Agbuana
Village in Ukpor, is married and the father of five young children. The sudden
cessation of communication has left his family in a state of anxiety and fear,
prompting them to search police stations in Nnewi North and surrounding areas.
Despite these efforts, there has been no trace of Odira.
The family plans to officially
report his disappearance to the police on Tuesday, July 16. Meanwhile, they
urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the nearest
police station or reach out to the family directly at 08063178545.
Efforts to obtain a statement
from SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State
Police Command, were unsuccessful as his phone number could not be reached at
the time of reporting.
Odira’s disappearance has not
only distressed his immediate family but also sparked concern within the
broader community, highlighting the urgent need for information and resolution
in this troubling case.
