We Didn’t Sue Ex-Anambra Gov, Obiano In US – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have denied any involvement in a reported court case against the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, in the United States.

IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful stated that the group had not authorised any legal action against Obiano and expressed surprise at the news of the lawsuit.

In a statement, Powerful said, "The US government and courts should be aware that IPOB did not institute any case against Chief Willie Obiano." He emphasized that IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu, is a disciplined organization that would not allow its name to be used fraudulently.

Powerful added, "The purported lawsuit against Obiano came as a surprise. IPOB leadership has not authorized anyone or any group to sue anyone in the USA. The proponents of the purported court case are not representing IPOB."

He warned those behind the lawsuit to stop impersonating IPOB and to withdraw the case. "If they wish to take Obiano to court, they should do so with their own names," Powerful stated. He also demanded that Obiano provide IPOB with the names of those behind the lawsuit if they fail to withdraw it.

"IPOB will not allow anyone to defraud with our name. Our members are under command and control and cannot act without leadership authorization. The claimants in the USA court against Chief Willie Obiano are not representing IPOB," he concluded.
