The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel International, Bishop David Oyedepo, denounced fraudsters and individuals involved in internet scams, commonly referred to as "Yahoo Boys," asserting that they face a bleak future.
Derived from the Yahoo email
service, the term "Yahoo Boy" is frequently used to describe young
men engaged in various forms of online fraud, particularly advanced fee fraud
and other deceptive schemes.
Addressing congregants at
Canaanland on Sunday, Oyedepo urged young people to adhere to the law and
cautioned against fraudulent activities, emphasizing that such actions lead to
bitterness and ruin.
"There is the law to mind.
The law of sowing and reaping. The law of seedtime and harvest. The law of
giving and receiving—that is the law. Engage with that law cheerfully. Engage
with that law willingly. Engage with that law tirelessly and watch how you
begin to lay up gold with time," he stated.
Oyedepo's remarks follow
similar sentiments expressed by Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation
Ministries, who in a 2022 sermon labeled "Yahoo Boys" as nothing more
than thieves, predicting that they would "know no peace" due to their
actions of stealing from others.
