A Non-Governmental Organization, Advanced Development Solutions Initiative (ADSI) Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nnamdi Azikiwe University ( Unizik), Awka, through its Business School to provide training for graduates and unemployed youths in Anambra State and beyond.
The
MoU which was a tripartite one was in
collaboration with African Missionary Empowerment Network (AMEN), ADSI and
Unizik Business School (UBS), took place on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the
Vice Chancellor's conference hall, Unizik, Awka.
Highlighting
the purpose of the collaboration, the Initiator and Chairman of ADSI
Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Dr. Ogochukwu Soludo, emphasized that
the partnership aims to equip youths with essential survival skills, crucial
for societal transformation.
According
to him, "the idea is that we feel a great need to change people's
orientation because the journey towards social transformation and sustainable
development begins with a change of orientation
"Unless
people change the way they think and act, they won't be able to achieve
meaningful sustainable development. I am convinced that what will make one
great is not outside of him" he emphasised.
He
frowned at the attitude of many youths who waste time seeking non-existent jobs
and stressed the importance of empowering them for self-reliance. He identified
UBS as a critical ally in achieving this vision.
Welcoming
the partners on behalf of the university management, Vice-Chancellor Prof.
Charles Okechukwu Esimone, expressed confidence in the initiative's potential
to yield positive results.
He
hoped for its expansion beyond the university, emphasizing the empowerment of
youths through education and training.
The
V.C while commending the initiators, assured of the university's full support
for the MoU's implementation.
Director
of UBS, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe, represented by the Deputy I, Dr. Promise Oparah,
expressed gratitude to the partners for selecting UBS and pledged the school's
commitment to fulfilling the terms of the MoU.
The
Chief Legal Officer of the university, Prof. Meshach Umenweke while
appreciating the partners for choosing Unizik, anticipated job creation for
beneficiaries through the partnership.
UBS
Deputy Director 11, Dr. Chris Kalu in a vote of thanks, expressed optimism
about the partnership's potential for fruitful and rewarding outcomes
The
event featured the Vice Chancellor, Prof Charles Esimone, members of ADSI and
AMEN such as; Dr Ogochukwu Soludo, Mrs. Onyinyeoma Soludo, Dr. Donald Orabuche,
Dr. Nma Okoroji, Tina Okonkwo, Comrade Leo Imoka, Chigozie Nwobu and Lady Amaka
Okeke, while Dr. Kalu Peters, Dr. Dorothy Chidolue, Ogochukwu Nduka,
Onyedikachi Azodo, Ndubuisi Anikpe, and Samuel Chukwubuikem were among the
Unizik Business School team.
