Operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) of the Bauchi Police Command has arresting Mustapha Tahiti, 35, a medical recorder at the Maternity Clinic Kofar Ran, Bauchi. The arrest comes in connection with an alleged conspiracy to murder his cousin and the cousin's wife.
The Command's Spokesman, Ahmed
Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this significant development in a statement issued on
Thursday, shedding light on the arrest made on March 6, 2024. The operation was
executed based on credible intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department.
During the subsequent
interrogation, the suspect, Mustapha Tahiti, confessed to the intended crime.
He admitted to filling a syringe with a potent insecticide chemical that he had
purchased, with plans to forcefully administer it to his targeted victims.
Tahiti revealed that his motive went beyond a sinister act, explaining that he
aimed to pilfer their valuables after eliminating both individuals.
The recovered syringe, filled
with the lethal insecticide chemical, has been secured as a crucial piece of
evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The official statement from the
Bauchi Police Command read, "Further discreet investigation uncovered that
the suspect had grudges with the victim for marrying his late elder brother’s
wife, whom he loved dearly and wanted to marry. Unfortunately, the widow does
not want to marry him. The suspect, in his further confession, said he warned
the victim several times not to marry the widow but was ignored."
