Governor Charles Chukwuma
Soludo of Anambra State and President General of the Building Materials
International Market (BMIM) Ogidi have commended Chief Humphrey Anuna, the
President General (PG) of the Anambra State Amalgamated Traders' Association
(ASMATA). The commendations were made during the celebration of PG Anuna's
one-year anniversary at his Oraeri community in Aguata Local Government Area.
Both Governor Soludo and the BMIM President General praised PG Anuna for restoring relative peace and significantly increasing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base of markets in the state. They highlighted that since PG Anuna's appointment by the governor, the traders' IGR has surged from N400 million annually to N4.5 billion.
Governor Soludo, represented by
his Special Adviser on Trade and Commerce, Hon. Everest Ubah, stated, "The
PG has even pledged to generate N5 billion instead of N4.5 billion, stating
that 70 percent of business activities in the state are trading. There is
massive improvement in IGR."
He further mentioned Governor
Soludo's achievements in creating an enabling environment for traders, human
capital development, employment of teachers and medical personnel, introduction
of a one-man two-skills acquisition initiative, eradication of touts, and
significant infrastructure development, including over 400 kilometers of roads.
The chairman of the occasion,
Chief Jude Nwankwo (Ochendo Umuawulu), expressed satisfaction with PG Anuna's
impact on the increased IGR of traders and the restoration of peace in the
markets. Nwankwo emphasized that the PG's knowledge of market revenue
generation sources and commitment contributed to the improved revenue base.
Acknowledging the role of the
Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Parks and Markets, Hon.
Evarist Ubah, as instrumental to the improvements, Nwankwo praised Ubah for
contributing to the success of ASMATA and the overall market sector.
The Idemili zonal Chairman of
ASMATA, Chief Emmanuel Obiagwu, commended ASMATA PG Anuna and highlighted the
achievements of the present executive, surpassing previous regimes,
particularly in IGR and peace restoration.
Chairmen of Haruna and Sokoto
markets, Hon. Emmanuel Idoko and Hon. Emeka Mbachu, also commended the ASMATA
PG for transforming the markets, restoring peace, and enhancing IGR.
The PG of Oraeri community,
Evangelist Alex Agudosi, praised Governor Soludo for appointing their son as
ASMATA PG, describing it as a well-deserved appointment. Additionally, Chief
Elysius Ozorkwere, the chairman of Nkpor New Auto Spareparts market, paid
tribute to PG Anuna for increasing the IGR base and restoring peace in the
markets.
In response, PG Anuna expressed
gratitude to everyone for their support and contributions to the success
achieved in restoring peace and increasing the revenue base. He acknowledged
the hard work of the traders and their significant role in the positive
transformations, emphasizing the collaborative effort to reach the current
milestones.
