Neutralise One, Arrest Three, Recover Ammunitions
Police officers from the Anambra State Police Command smashed an armed gang on Sunday, January 14, in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
The gang, traveling in a
commercial bus from Nnewi, was intercepted at a police checkpoint. One of the
hoodlums disembarked, brandishing a Beretta pistol and was subsequently
neutralized.
In an official statement
released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command,
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, he said, "Police discovered a dagger hidden in the
bag they were traveling with."
"The Commissioner of
Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, praised the Police Personnel for their vigilance and
has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take charge of the
case for a comprehensive investigation," added DSP Ikenga.
CP Adeoye emphasized, "He
has also ordered the immediate release of two elderly passengers who boarded the
bus at a different location."
"The command wishes to
assure the good people of Anambra State that it will always live up to its
responsibility in safeguarding the lives and property of all law-abiding
citizens in the state," concluded DSP Ikenga, reaffirming the commitment
of the police command to public safety.
